Fabien Delahaye snatches third place in the Trin’40
Departure on Friday, 24 April 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
The battle lasted all the way into Quiberon Bay! In a particularly tight finish, Fabien Delahaye managed to gain the upper hand over his rivals to complete the podium of the first edition of the Trin’40. After 4 days, 4 hours, 15 minutes and 36 seconds of racing, the skipper of Legallais crossed the finish line of the inaugural Trin’40 in third position at 6:15:36 p.m.*, Tuesday, April 28. He finished 2 hours and 42 minutes behind the winner, Guillaume Pirouelle, having covered 838.31 nautical miles at an average speed of 8.4 knots.
“It was intense right to the end! Last night we thought we had built a solid lead at the Gironde waypoint with William Mathelin-Moreaux, but two miles later we sailed into a huge windless patch and saw everyone closing in behind us—we suddenly found ourselves with six boats side by side. Everything had to be done all over again!
It was a really complete race—each leg was interesting both strategically and in terms of speed. I wasn’t particularly fast overall; I chose to go with older sails, so I had to be patient downwind. I came here to work on solo sailing—and I definitely did that! I took it step by step, but I kept fighting to come back, trying to make the most of every little wind shift. Each time, I managed to make small gains that kept me in the leading group.
I’m not completely exhausted—I wasn’t at my limit—but I did forget my sleeping bag, which didn’t exactly help me get good rest!”
